burning moonlight
poetry book
BURNING MOONLIGHT is a poetry book that pairs with my visual film of the same name. The narrator leads the reader through their world surrounded by occurrences crossing beyond the natural and supernatural worlds, and visions that inevitably lead them through a dark journey.
BURNING MOONLIGHT is intended to be a multi-experiential concept work inspired by the harms caused by ghosting and reinforcing its negative impact on others. The poems explore the pull of trauma and imbalances found in unhealthy relationships while searching for belonging in a small town.
The book was designed to visually express the deterioration of relationships and the ghostly nature of the storyline itself. I utilized a combination of distressing and graphic techniques on the film stills to resemble old forgotten photographs and emphasize the dark and lonely nature of the storyline.

“in a state of blindness
where I can only sense the end,
burning moonlight in my heart again.”

I saw the Devil /
can’t remember what he looked like
lost in the static / someone finds me there /
missing person / transmission /
the wolves came for me
& I didn’t see it coming //
you got away with it.

when I go invisible,
the sky opens up.
sometimes late at night,
you can almost sense it;
even if it was ages ago,
that lingering feeling
still beckons back.
oh how it felt,
that last time
next to the one you loved
in the passenger seat;
all those ghosts
who drove you home
& never returned.
